Edith North, 96, a resident of 305 B Street Charles City, died Sunday, October 26, 2003, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City, Iowa.

Funeral services for Edith North will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Gayle Wilcox of Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Thursday.

Edith Lavada Lambkin North was born February 21, 1907, at Paw Paw, Ill., the daughter of Chester and Lillian (Woods) Lambkin. Her family moved to Iowa in 1915 and then to Charles City in 1917. Edith graduated from the Charles City High School in 1925. On August 6, 1929, she was united in marriage to George Frank North at Clarksville. George North died on September 9, 1961. Edith worked for a number of years for Guthart Brothers and then for First Security Bank and Trust Company until her retirement in 1972. On October 29, 1973, she married Lewis Rawn. Lewis died on March 4, 1988. Edith was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Pythian Sisters. She enjoyed crafts, flower and vegetable gardening, dancing, and going for rides in the country.

Living family members include four children, Dr. George (Lois) North of Allison, Lucile (Charles) Cline of Austin, Minn., Robert (Judy) North of Vinton, and Keith (Linda) North of Arlington Heights, Ill.; a step son, David (Cheryl) Rawn, of Lyle , Minn.; a step daughter-in-law, Sherry Rawn of Osage; 10 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Her parents, husbands, and two brothers preceded her in death.
