Leatta Schmidtke, age 82, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2003 in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 12th at the Kline Funeral Home in Pine River, Minn. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley, Minn.

Leatta Schroeder was born in Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, on December 30, 1920, the daughter of Louis F. and Marie K. (Wachsmuth) Schroeder. She received her education in Charles City and was a member of the Lutheran Church.

On January 21, 1942, she was married to Jay Schmidtke in Minneapolis, Minn. They have made their home in Backus, Minnesota, for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Jay; her sons: Steven and his wife, Becky, and Mark and his wife, Heather; five grandchildren, one great-grand child and one sister, Lucile Zielstorf; two nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leonard Schroeder; and her sisters, Leona Carver and Lucinda Hallberg, all from Charles City.
