Florence Lockrem, 75, a resident of 109 Central Avenue, Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Sunday, September 28, 2003, at her residence.

Funeral services for Florence Lockrem will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2003, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Dennis Niezwaag, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be on Thursday in Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills, Iowa.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and an hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

Florence Eileen Lockrem was born July 17, 1928, at Joice, the daughter of Will and Tressa (Ulsted) Otto. She graduated from the Lake Mills High School in 1945. On September 16, 1951, she was united in marriage to Byron Lockrem at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. Florence worked at the Manufactures Bank and Trust in Lake Mills and upon moving to Charles City at the First Security Bank. She enjoyed helping people as seen in her volunteer work as a Pink Lady, distributing Meals on Wheels, and ringing bells for the Salvation Army at Christmastime.

Living family members include three children, Jeff (Lorrie) Lockrem of Nevada, Brad (Kelly) Lockrem of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Roberta Lockrem of Edmond, Ok.; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Bradley, Tanner, Madison, and Christopher Lockrem; two brothers, Harold (Jo) Otto of Lake Mills, and Dale (Marilyn) Otto of Texas; three sisters, Delores Muller and Dorothy Larson both of Mason City, and Helen Groe of Lake Mills; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1998, and a grandson, Byron Lockrem, and a brother, Carl Otto.
