Doris M. (Blough) Houstman, 81, of Charles City, passed away Monday evening, August 25, 2003, in the emergency room at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City of heart-related problems.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2003, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua with burial in Riverton Cemetery, rural Charles City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home on Thursday.

Memorials may be directed to the Charles City YMCA, 800 Hulin Street, Charles City, Iowa 50616.

Doris Maxine Houstman was born January 18, 1922, at Vinton, the daughter of William N. and Anna Mae (Dorsey) Anderson. She attended school at LaPorte City. Doris was united in marriage to Forrest Blough and they moved to an acreage north of Nashua. They worked as a team doing painting and wood finishing for homes throughout the area. Following Forrest's death in 1979, Doris continued with the business. She later moved to Charles City and started a cleaning business. She was united in marriage to Richard Houstman on September 9, 1989, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Doris was a member of the Charles City Moose Lodge. She will be remembered as a talented, hard working lady.

Doris is survived by her husband, Richard Houstman of Charles City; two step-daughters, Mary (Steven) Jung of Mason City and Gloria (Dennis) Venz of Alden; and three step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Forrest Blough, on May 2, 1979; her parents; two brothers, Charles and Estel Anderson.

Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Homes in Nashua are in charge of arrangements.
