CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Matthew Mitchell, 28, a resident of 801 Beck Street, Charles City, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, of natural causes at a friend's home in Charles City.
A funeral Mass for Matthew Mitchell will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. The Rev. Brian Shepley, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wilton and St. Andrews Catholic Church in Blue Grass, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday with the Rosary being recited by St. Catherine's Circle at 5:30 and a Vigil Scriptural Wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the Mass.
Matthew Robert Mitchell was born September 12, 1974, at Boonville, Missouri, the son of Dean and Joan (Ewen) Mitchell. He graduated from Joplin High School in Joplin, Missouri, in 1993. After graduation Matthew lived in the Joplin area, moving to Charles City four years ago. Matthew's interests included watching football, NASCAR, and spending time with his friends.
Living family members include his father, Dean Mitchell of Charles City; mother, Joan (Bobby) Merrill of Joplin, Missouri; a brother Brian (Shannon) Mitchell of Owatonna, Minn.; maternal grandparents, Robert and Val Ewen of Charles City; and three nephews, Zachary, Jacob, and Andrew Mitchell.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Leone Mitchell.
