Laura Henry, 98, a resident of 602 11th Street, Charles City, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Funeral services for Laura Henry will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. The Rev. David Werges, pastor at Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
Laura E. Mannetter Henry was born June 24, 1905, at Hubbard, the daughter of Carl and Mary (Bekemeier) Mannetter. She graduated from the Hubbard High School and attended the University of Northern Iowa. Laura taught school at Floyd for several years. On June 24, 1938 she was united in marriage to Wilbur "Bill" Henry at Osage. They farmed near Charles City all their lives, remained on the farm after retirement and then moved together to the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in March of 2002. Bill died on February 22, 2003. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, baking bread, and reading.
Living family members include a son, Bruce Henry and special friend Colleen of West Minster, Colo.; a grandson, David (Denise) Bledsoe and daughter Katelyn of Charles City; and a brother, A.E. "Dutch" (Barbara) Mannetter of Charles City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Marlys Bledsoe in 1963, and four brothers, and five sisters.
Memorials may be directed to the Saint John Lutheran Church Preschool or the Charles City Public Library.
