NASHUA, IOWA - Marian M. Zwanziger, 82, of Nashua, passed away Thursday morning, July 24, 2003, at the New Hampton Care Center in New Hampton of a long illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., today, Monday, July 28, 2003, at the United Methodist Church in Nashua with burial in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. Visitation was Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua and one hour prior to services at the church today.

She is survived by her husband, Donald; one son, Leonard (Duenda) Zwanziger of Rocky Mount, N.C.; one son-in-law, Robert Waidelich of Camdenton, Mo.; a foster son, Conrad "Red" (Roberta) Crist of Golden, Col.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Merwin (Betty) Richards of San Marcos, Texas; three sisters, Margaret Alene Moine of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; Betty (Clinton) Richards of Charles City; and Marjorie (Marvin 'Bud') Strike of Waukon.

Marian was preceded in death by two daughters: Janet Zwanziger and Donna Waidelich, one great-grandson, Grant Whipple; her parents; four brothers: Clyde, Rual, Beryl and Roger Richards and one sister, Joyce Swinton.

Marian was born November 2, 1920, in Bremer County, Iowa, the daughter of George and Jessie (Shadbolt) Richards. She attended rural grade school in Bremer and Chickasaw County and graduated from Nashua High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Donald Zwanziger on March 20, 1941 at the Methodist Parsonage in Nashua. Marian was a rural school teacher in Butler and Chickasaw County and manager of the hot lunch program at the Nashua Public School for several years. She and her husband also owned and operated Don's Ranch House and the Dairy Sweet in Nashua.

Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.
