MARBLE ROCK, IOWA -- Funeral services for Horace Dean Staudt, 78, of 1272 270th Street, Marble Rock, will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock with Pastor Gary Hatcher officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Marble Rock with military rites conducted by Stroud Gates Post 387 of Marble Rock.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 9, at Reid's Funeral Chapel in Marble Rock. Visitation will continue Tuesday one hour before services at the chapel.

Horace Dean Staudt was born September 14, 1924 in Scott Township, Floyd County, a son of Marcus M. and Lila F. (Esser) Staudt. He died Friday, June 6, 2003 at the Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

He received his education in the Marble Rock Public Schools, graduating in 1942. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and following his honorable discharge he returned to Marble Rock where he farmed until his retirement.

Dean will be remembered as an avid outdoors person who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a member of the Stroud Gates Post 387 of the American Legion.

He is survived by several cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
