Esther F. Hahn, 95, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at the Salsbury Baptist Home, where she had been a resident for eleven years.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Hauser Funeral Home, with Reverend Solomon Odom, West St. Charles United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Hauser Funeral Home. Burial will be in Flood Creek Cemetery, rural Rockford.
Esther F. Duesenberg was born July 1, 1907, in Rockford, Iowa, the daughter of Conrad and Anna (Schmidt) Duesenberg. She graduated from Rockford High School, and on February 21, 1940, she married Newton C. Hahn at the Flood Creek Methodist Church, Rockford, Iowa. Esther was a member of West St. Charles Church and was worship chairman for several years, as well as part-time organist and pianist. She was also a member of the Friendly Birthday Club, enjoyed embroidery, and baking cookies.
Esther is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter Leanne Buttjer of Charles City and her son Harold Hahn of Charles City. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jean Schaefer of Waverly, Angela Jackson of Hapeville, Ga., John Hahn of Parkersburg, Daniel Hahn of Charles City, Terrance Hahn of Nashua, as well as two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband Newton, her parents, two sisters: Alma Lacour and Mabel Holthaus, and five brothers: William, Arthur, Gilbert, Benjamin, and Erwin Duesenberg.
