MASON CITY, IOWA - Margaret Ruth (Marge) Rodewald, 92, of 302 2nd St. N.E, Mason City, Iowa died Sunday May 25, 2003 at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, May 29, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. Holy Family Catholic Church in Mason City with Rev. Dennis Cahill officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 28, 2003 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City. with an Athenian Rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a scriptural wake service at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Mason City.

Marge was born Nov. 20, 1910 in Charles City, the daughter of Frank and Cora (Holbrook) Rabe. She graduated from Charles City High School in 1926. Following high school she moved to St. Paul, Minn., where she was secretary for a District Judge.

She married Leo E. Rodewald (also of Charles City) May 16, 1936 in St. Paul, Minn. They lived in Osage where they owned and operated a meat market and later moved to Webster City where they owned and operated a grocery store meat market. In 1949 they moved to Mason City where she was a homemaker and later worked with her husband in the New York Life Ins. business.

Marge and her husband spent many hours visiting and sharing with people in the Mason City Nursing Homes. She was well known as "The Story Lady" at Good Shepherd for many years. She was also involved with the Red Cross, spokesperson and president of the Right For Life. She headed up the campaign that was responsible for Mason City Tornado Warning Sirens. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Church Circles and the Athenian Study Club.

She will be sadly missed by her children: Connie Clapsaddle, Mason City, Terry Rodewald and his wife Linda, St. Louis, Mo. and Mary Margaret McFee, and her husband Randall, Colorado Springs, Colo.; daughter-in-law Diane Rodewald, San Diego, Calif.; her seventeen grandchildren; her ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David, two grandsons: David and Steven Clapsaddle, three sisters and three brothers.
