CHARLES CITY, IOWA -- Frances I. "Fran" Van Horn, 61, of Charles City, died Saturday morning, May 24, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital of cancer.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 29, at Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home, with friends calling from 9 a.m. to service with Rev. Greg Lugn officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sunnyside Memory Gardens.

Frances Van Horn was born August 13, 1941 in Clarksville, the daughter of David and Bessie Curtis Aswegen. She married James Van Horn on Feb. 24, 1961 at Aplington and the couple divorced in 1976. Fran was a waitress and bartender at Brooks and The Choo Chew in Charles City.

She is survived by a son, Troy Van Horn, of Minn.; a daughter, Brenda F. Boss of Miller; four grandchildren; one brother, Jim Aswegen of Parkersburg; and one sister, Dorothy Graves of Dike.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
