Ruth A. Clapp, 92, a former resident of North Cedar Terrace, Charles City, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

Funeral services for Ruth Clapp will be held at 1:30 p.m .on Wednesday May 21, 2003, at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. Monsignor Stanley Hayek, pastor of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 5 - 7 p.m. today,Tuesday, May 2, 2003 as well as for one hour prior to services. A memorial has been established in Ruth's name.

Ruth Arleta Billings Clapp was born July 17, 1910, at Nora Springs, the daughter of George and Ethel (Lenhart) Billings. She received her education in Nora Springs.

In September of 1927, she was united in marriage to LeRoy Clapp at Charles City. Ruth worked for 15 years at the Spic and Span Bakery, and also for many years at the Riverside Chautauqua. Ruth enjoyed vacationing in Minnestoa with her daughter Beverly and her husband Dale Krieger, as well as her sister. She was a foster grandmother for Comprehensive Systems in Charles City, and loved animals, especially her cat Rusty. Ruth's greatest joy came from her two grandson's, Scott and Ted Krieger.

Ruth is survived and loving remembered by her daughter Beverly Krieger and her husband Dale of Charles City, her grandson's Ted Krieger of Charles City and Scott Krieger of New Hampton. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Billings of Nora Springs, and Lucille Clapp of Charles City, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LeRoy Clapp, three sisters, and two brothers.
