Charles City - Harriette L. Nicholson, 82, of 910 13th Street Cedar Crest Apartments in Charles City, died early Friday, Feb. 21, 2003 at Floyd Co. Memorial Hospital in Hospice Care, Charles City.

Funeral services for Harriette will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church 101 L St., Charles City, with Rev. Doug DeFord officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. The family will greet relatives and friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Monday, Feb. 24, at Fullerton Hage Funeral 401 Blunt St. in Charles City, and will continue one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

Harriette was born October 5, 1920, in St. Ansgar, the daughter of Agnes (Jackson) and Harry Thomas.

A native of Charles City, Harriette attended school within the Ionia School System, graduating from high school in 1939. Harriette was united in marriage to Roy D. Nicholson on July 15, 1939 in Austin, Minn.

The couple had farmed in Charles City and the surrounding areas. She was employed as a clerk at the Trowbridge Grocery Store and later Red Owl Grocery in Charles City, retiring in 1985. She had also worked for the Exise dress Shop in Charles City. Harriette took great pride in being a grandmother, great grandmother and was a foster grandparent for 19 years. Her favorite past time includes sewing and Harriette's family recalls she was never afraid of hard work. She enjoyed people and visiting with them. Harriette liked to dine out. Harriettte was a devoted Christian and faithful to her church. Harriette was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Charles City.

Grateful for having had the privilege of sharing Harriette's life are her two children, Daniel Nicholson and wife, Bonnie of Charles City; Kathleen Clammer-Nicholson of Springtown, TX; her sister, Jean Fisher of Charles City; she will also be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends survive her.

Preceding Harriette in death is her husband, Roy D. Nicholson; a son, David Nicholson; her parents; an infant sister, Margaret and a great grandson, Todd Stephen Clark, Jr.

The family requests memorial expressions to be directed to Temple Baptist Church.
