MASON CITY, IOWA - Clyde Starkey, 64, of 819 5th St. S.E., Mason City, and formerly of Charles City, died Friday (Jan. 31, 2003) at Hospice of North Iowa Muse Norris Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services for Clyde Starkey will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. The Rev. Chris Podhajsky, pastor of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mason City, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and where there will be a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.

MASON CITY, IOWA - Clyde Starkey, age 64, a resident of 819 5th Street S.E., Mason City, and formerly of Charles City, Iowa, died January 31, 2003, at Hospice of North Iowa Muse Norris Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Clyde Howard Starkey was born October 17, 1938, at Charles City, the son of Robert and Ruth (Dailey) Starkey. He attended the Charles City High School.

On September 26, 1959, he was united in marriage to Donna Putney at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. During his working career Clyde worked for Lindaman Dairy, Sperry Transportation, Hydrotile Machinery Company, Takin Brothers, and H &W Motor Express from where he retired. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Teamsters, and the Moose Lodge. Clyde collected and assembled model tractors and trucks. The time spend with his family was very important to him. He also took special joy in harassing his neighbors, especially Walt.

Living family members include his wife, Donna of Mason City; two daughters, Debbra Starkey of Rapid City, SD, and Christina Starkey of Mason City; a son, Clyde (Tracy) Starkey, Jr. of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Pettigrew, Brandon Starkey, Dillon Starkey, Stevi Jean Starkey, Jared Starkey, Greg Johnson, Jeffery Zappa, and Samantha Zappa; and a great grandson, Thomas Lee Johnson, a sister, Jon Fredricks of Mason City; three brothers, Glenn (Kathy) Starkey of Mill Valley, Calf., Jerry (Joann) Starkey of Mason City, and Richard Starkey of Brooklyn Park, Minn.; and a brother-in-law, Jack Ferch of Conrad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Connie Johnson, a son, Scott Starkey, a sister, Janice Ferch, a brother-in-law, Arnold Fredricks, and a nephew, Robert Ferch.

Hauser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
