MASON CITY, IOWA - Dorothy L. Sigler Bartelt, 91, of 1027 Third Street NE, died Saturday, January 25, 2003 at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Mason City.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at 1:30 pm at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third Street NE, Mason City, with Reverend Scott Duffus of St. James Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Floyd.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, 2003 at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the Dorothy L. Sigler Bartelt Memorial Fund, 424 Second Street NE, Mason City.

Dorothy was born Dec. 17, 1911 in New Sharon, a daughter of Guy and Bertha (Mullen) Jenkins. She lived and attended school in the Rudd area until her marriage to Martin B. Sigler on March 1, 1930 in Charles City. They lived in the Rudd area, where Dorothy was a homemaker, until Martin's death in 1957. After his death, Dorothy worked as a nurses aid in Nora Springs for several years. In 1961, she was united in marriage to Paul E. Bartelt. They lived in Mason City, where Dorothy also worked as a nurses aid at several different care centers. Dorothy enjoyed sewing, quilting, and embroidery, reading the newspaper comics, and watching her favorite soap operas on TV.

Dorothy is survived by two children, Maxine Parker of Charles City and Martin D. Sigler and his wife, Beverly, of Las Vegas, Nev., a son-in-law, Nick Kantaris of Mason City, and 13 grandchildren, Starla, Dana, Jerry, Brent, Michelle, and Glade Parker, Tami Cleghorn, Tim, Lonnie, and Natasha Sigler, Michael Kantaris, Nancy Linderman, and Angela Kantaris. She is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren, Brock, Brandan, Alohna, Heather, Haley, Lindsay, Larissa, Casey, Ryan, Benjamin, Tyler, Trenton, Renae, Casondra, Levi, Dallas, Brad, Stephanie, Steven, and Vanessa, and two great-great-grandchildren, Skyler and Trevor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, an infant daughter, Beulah Mae, a son, Larry Sigler, a daughter, Connie Kantaris, a son-in-law, Gerald Parker, three sisters, Viola Sigler, Vera Hansen, and Mildred Welshans, and two granddaughters, Sheila and ZoAnne Parker.
