CHARLES CITY - Esther Naumann, 74, of 105 Third Ave, died Sunday (Dec. 8, 2002) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley Hayek, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., in Charles City, where St. Catherine's Circle will recite the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and there will be a Scriptural wake service at 7 p.m.

Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.

Esther Naumann, 74, a resident of 105 3rd Avenue , Charles City , died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002 , at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City . A funeral Mass for Esther Naumann will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002 , at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City . Monsignor Stanley Hayek, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery , Charles City .

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2002, where St. Catherine's Circle will recite the Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and where there will be a Scriptural Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

Esther Alice Naumann was born May 1, 1928 , in Floyd County , the daughter of Nicholas and Margaret (O'Reagan) Lawless. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Charles City . On Aug. 1, 1946 , she was united in marriage to George Naumann at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Roseville . The couple farmed south of Charles City until their retirement in the late 1980's at which time they moved into Charles City . She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Catherine's Circle, Democratic Party, and the Heritage Club. Esther enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and spending time with her family.

Living family members include her husband, George Naumann; five daughters, Mary Jane (Kenneth) Akin of Rogers, Minn., Veronica (Gary) Lack of Nora Springs, Rita (Rick) Bozwell of Rockford, Ill., Patricia (Phil) Davis of Agency, and Angela Ethington and fiancˇ Brad Greimann of Sheffield; two sons, George Naumann, Jr. of Charleston, S.C. and special friend Betty McDonald of Charles City, and Al (Cindy) Naumann of Charleston, S.C.; 24 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Her parents, two sons, Thomas and James Naumann, a grandson, Daniel Nixt, a brother, and three sisters preceded her in death.

The family suggests memorials be directed to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Memorial Fund.

Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
