RUDD, IOWA - Arnold "Bud" Wayne Miller, 82, of Rudd, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the United Methodist Church in Rudd, with Reverend Lisa Locoh and Reverend Terra Amundson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Rudd with military graveside honors by the HDS American Legion Post in Nora Springs.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Sheckler Colonial Chapel, 114 North Hawkeye, Nora Springs, and one hour prior to service time on Friday at the church.

The family of Arnold "Bud" Miller has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Arnold "Bud" Miller memorial fund in his memory.

Arnold "Bud" Wayne Miller, was born on May 29, 1920, in Yankton, S.D., the son of Fred and Mary (Wolf) Miller. He attended and received his education in the Hamburg, Iowa school system, and later moved to Floyd County area and farmed for many years.

He was united in marriage to Arlee Stiles on Dec. 9, 1939. He was inducted into the U.S. Army on July 28, 1944, serving overseas in the Philippines with the First Calvary Division during World War II, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant First Class on Jan. 9, 1946. After his discharge he returned to the Rudd area and farmed for a number of years while driving truck, school bus, working at Oliver's and later establishing Miller livestock and truck line for 27 years in Rudd. After selling the business in 1984, he semi retired and drove truck for Hoover Hatchery in Rudd until his health began to fail and then retired.

He was united in marriage to Rose Ann Neis McDowell on March 25, 1972, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

He enjoyed gardening, but his great love and enjoyment was his family and grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Rose Ann Miller of Rudd; five sons, Jerry L. Miller and his wife Judith A. of Rudd, Gene W. Miller of Houston, Texas, James Miller of Mason City, John A. Miller and his wife Carol D. of Rudd, and Joel W. Miller and his wife Linda L. of Rudd; five step children, Sandra Kuhlemeier and her husband Courtney of Rockford, Cathi Hale of Ft. Dodge, Connie Rewerts of Mason City, Jim McDowell and his wife Claudia of Van Couver, Wash., and Jerry McDowell of Burnsville, Minn.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Millie Peterson and her husband Wendell of Shenandoah, Helen Stacey and her husband Frank of Riverton, and Lola Hesse of Clinton; a brother, Fred Miller and his wife Marilyn of Sidney; as well as many nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marg Ernest and Pauline Helmers; and a brother, Charles Miller.

Sheckler Colonial Chapel in Nora Springs is in charge of arrangements.
