Gerald Dale Winters, Sr., died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at the Liebe Care Center in Greene, Iowa, at the age of 68. Jerry, as he was fondly known, lived in the Rockford area all his life, most currently at 205 2nd Ave.

Jerry's life will be celebrated on Dec. 3, 2002, with funeral services to be held 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 205 1st Ave. NW, Rockford, IA. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Walker-Graper Post.

The Fullerton Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 641-756-3311, is in charge of the arrangements.

GERALD DALE WINTERS SR.

ROCKFORD, IOWA - Gerald Dale Winters Sr., the son of Lawrence and Katherine (Menke) Winters, was born April 13, 1934, in Clear Lake, and died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at the Liebe Care Center in Greene at the age of 68. Jerry, as he was fondly known, lived in the Rockford area all his life, most currently at 205 2nd Ave.

Jerry's life will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 3, with funeral services to be held at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 205 1st Ave. N.W., Rockford, with the Rev. Kenneth Kent officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Walker-Graper Post.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

His sons, Jerry, Jim, David, Donnie, Jeffrey, Phillip and Paul Winters, will honor their father by carrying him to his final resting place.

Jerry entered the United States Army in 1952 and served his country during the Korean Conflict until 1955, when he was honorably discharged. He assisted in installing communication lines while in the service. Jerry was employed for many years as a general mechanic for Andrews Prestressed Concrete, a company known for building bridge beams. In his younger years, Jerry found great excitement in driving racecars, especially stock cars. He also spent time "junking and salvaging," collecting coins and playing bingo with friends.

Jerry will be sadly missed by his children and their families, including; Jerry and Denise Winters Jr. of Parkesburg, Penn., Jim and Bunnie Winters of Clear Lake, David Winters and Kim of Charles City, Debbie Schmitt of Clarksville, Donnie Winters and Paula of Moline, Ill., Jeffrey Winters and Vicki of Marble Rock, Phillip Winters of Rockford, Paul Winters and Rochelle of Janesville, Wis., and Peggy and Dan Feltus of Allison; his three brothers, Virgil and Bette Winters of Rockford; Marvin and Alice Winters of Mason City, and Ted and Sandy Winters of Marble Rock also survive him. Two other very important ladies in Jerry's life are his special friend, Caroline Fisher, of Rockford, and the mother of Jerry's children, Eileen Winters, of Charles City. Jerry is the grandfather of 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He will be missed by numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in his death by his parents; his son, Dennis Winters, in 2000, and one brother, Richard Winters.
