Wilmerth "Wilma" DeHaven, 86, of 602 11th St., died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Eleventh Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, with Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home today. Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to Hospice of North Iowa.

Wilmerth "Wilma" DeHaven was born Aug. 13, 1916, in Charles City, the daughter of William and Emma (Wendt) Menzie. She attended school in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School in 1934. Wilma was united in marriage to Eugene DeHaven on Aug. 19, 1959, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked for the Floyd County Courthouse for thirty plus years until her retirement in 1981. Wilma was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, Wa-Tan-Ye Club, and the Heritage Club. She enjoyed playing cards, with Bridge being her favorite, traveling throughout the U.S., gardening, and raising her violets.

Wilma is survived by two nieces; Sue Kraus and her husband, Larry, of Mason City, Donna Bindel and her husband, Rich, of Forest City; one great niece, Melanie Leber; one great nephew, Scott Leber; sister-in-law, Arlene Menzie, of Forest City; two special friends, Virginia Moore, of Des Moines, and Chuck Thorson and his wife, Judy, and their family, of Floyd.

Wilma is preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene in 1968, two brothers, Brice, and William Menzie.

Fullerton Hage Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
