Fern Louise Jacobs, 75, of 1211 D. St., Charles City, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at the 11th Street Chautauqua in Charles City of natural causes. There will be no funeral services or visitation per Fern's request. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memorial Gardens.

Fern Louis Jacobs was born on March 7, 1927, in Crystal Lake, Ill., the daughter of Fred and Dorothy 'Wendt' Kapping. She married Joseph E. Jacobs on Nov. 26, 1949, in Austin, Minn. and was a housewife.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; three sons, Dale Kapping of Rockford, Mike (Jan Wilson) Jacobs of Charles City, and John Jacobs of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Arlene (Harry) Hayner of Klemme, Ruth (Gene) Diercks of Charles City and Penny (Mark) Adams of Charles City; four foster children; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, LeRoy, Delbert, and Fred Kapping; and her sister, Ruth Kapping.

Sunnyside Chapel Funeral Home in Charles City is in charge of arrangements.
