Raymond Venz, 85, of 1109 Allison St., Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Friday September 27, 2002 at the Salsbury Baptist Home.

Funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 2, 2002 at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City. Visitation will be held Tuesday Oct. 1, 2002 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Raymond Venz, 85, formerly of 1109 Allison St., Charles City, died Friday (Sept. 27, 2002) at the Salsbury Baptist Home where he had resided since June 5, 2002, from complications of lung cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Visitation was held on Tuesday at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services today at the church.

Raymond Venz was born on March 23, 1917, in rural Chickasaw County, Iowa, the son of George and Lulu Annie (Rose) Venz. He attended country schools and graduated from Colwell High School in 1934.

On April 10, 1939, Raymond was united in marriage to Lola Mae Clark in New Hampton. They made their home in Charles City and rural Ionia.

Mr. Venz was employed at the Oliver Corporation for 38 years, retiring on May 1, 1975.

Ray was an avid fisherman and hunter of deer, raccoon, and other small game. He also enjoyed country music, dancing, and playing cards.

Those thankful for having shared in Raymond's life include his three daughters, Joan Jung and her husband, Jerry, of Charles City, Jeanne Moser and her husband, Roger, of Charles City, and Dixie Beaupain and her husband, Michael, of Iowa Falls; one brother, Jesse Venz, of rural Bassett; two sisters, Daisy Wisher of Waterloo, and Vera Lack of Orchard, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

Mr. Venz was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lola in December of 1996; four brothers, Vernon, Cliff, Walter, and Bernald Venz, and three sisters, Wilma Venz in infancy, Pansy Larrabee, and Nellie Fisher.
