Lorraine Ritter, 73, a resident of 2571 270th Street, Greene, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 10, 2002, at Mercy Health Center in Mason City.

A funeral Mass for Lorraine Ritter will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Msgr. Stanley Hayek, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Charles City.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday where the St. Catherine Circle will recite the Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and where there will be a Vigil Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday an hour prior to the service.

Lorraine Kathleen Feltz Ritter was born April 15, 1929, at LeRoy, Minn., the daughter of Norman and Beatrice (Schellenberg) Feltz. She attended the Floyd High School. On July 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Wallace Ritter at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia. They farmed all their lives south of Charles City. Lorraine worked for several years at the Starr Home in Charles City. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Catherine's Circle, Navy Mothers, and the Heritage Club. Lorraine was associated with the Foster Grandparent program at The Learning Center. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, canning, and working crossword puzzles. Lorraine was known to many as "mom."

Living family members include her husband, Wallace of Greene; six children, David Ritter and wife Betty of Seattle, Wash., Steven Ritter and wife Helene of Chesterfield, Mich., Thomas Ritter of Twin Falls, Idaho, Phillip Ritter and wife Cheryl of Ocala, Fla., Craig Ritter and wife Susan of Charles City, and Kevin Ritter of Greene; 12 grandchildren; three brothers, Vernon Feltz of Charles City, Duane Feltz and wife, JoAnn, of Allison, and Kenneth Feltz and wife, Diane, of Woden; four sisters and their husbands, Bernice and Virgil Petersen of Pipestone, Minn., Beverly and Bert Sorensen of Grand Meadow, Minn., Patricia and Gaylan Lynch of Charles City, and Sharon and Richard Bilharz of Great Falls, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Carolyn Ritter, and two brothers, Stanley and Harlen Feltz.
