CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Herman Adam August Zimmerman, 86, of 509 8th Ave., Charles City, died Friday, July 19, 2002 at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City with the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. with the family present from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Herman Adam August Zimmerman was born March 16, 1916, in rural Burt to Klaas and Mary Rath Zimmerman. On April 30, 1916 he was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Lotts Creek. After the family moved to the Rockford area he attended the rural schools.

In 1930 Herman was confirmed at the Zion American Lutheran Church in Rockford by Pastor Bredow. The family moved north of Charles City in 1936 where their father passed away at an early age. The family continued farming northeast of Charles City.

On Feb. 27, 1943, Herman was united in marriage to Savera Renata Ross at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City by Rev. Walter Fritschel.

He continued to farm, and in 1963 went to work for Jacobs Elevator in Charles City. In 1995 after retiring they moved to Charles City.

Herman is survived by his wife, Savera, two daughters; Karen Weber and her husband, Jim, of Gladstone, Mo., and Marlene Zimmerman of Richfield, Minn., two grandchildren; Pam Bledsoe and Mark Weber of Kansas City, Mo., one great granddaughter; Ali Nicole Bledsoe, three sisters; Emma Mohring and Esther Meyne, both of Charles City, and Mary Ann Steenhard of Waverly and one brother Emil Zimmerman of Lansing.

Mr. Zimmerman was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Louise Anderson and Ella Hicok, and one brother, Benhardt Zimmerman.
