Carrie C. Slinger, 94, of Salsbury Baptist Home, formerly of 202 15th Ave., Charles City, Iowa, died Wednesday July 10, 2002, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2002, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Dennis Niezwaag.

Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2002, at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., and again one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens Cemetery, Charles City.

Carrie was born June 19, 1908, in Withee, Wisc., daughter of John Melbinger and Anna (Horn) Melbinger. On Sept. 15, 1928, she was united in marriage to Harold Wiltse in Bradley, S.D., where in 1932 Harold passed away. She was then reunited in marriage to Harold Slinger on Aug. 15, 1936, where Carrie and Harold began there life together in Charles City. Harold Slinger passed away in 1984. She resided in Charles City for the past 66 years. She was owner of the Red Rooster Restaurant, as well as a housewife. She was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. Carrie enjoyed her crossword puzzles in the Register, and playing cards. Carrie's main interest however, was her family; even the many miles to Colorado was not far enough to separate Carrie from the comfort of her family.

Carrie is survived by four daughters; Patricia McCauley, and her husband, Eugene, of Charles City, Marilyn (Tootie) Kolb, and her husband, Harlyn, of Charles City, Joyce Wittlike, and her husband, Ted, of Yuma, Colo., Lois Heddens, and her husband, Ralph, of Charles City; two sons; Jack Slinger, and his wife, Zella, of Charles City, Terry Slinger, and his wife Sandra, of Charles City; sister-in-law, Mae Melbinger; uncle, Bart Horn; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren.

Carrie was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands; Harold Wiltse, Harold Slinger; two brothers; Rodney and Ambros Melbinger; one grandson; Mark Allen Christensen.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church or Hospice of North Iowa.
