ESTHER GORDON

CHARLES CITY - Esther (Mrs. John) Gordon, 81, 1307 Missouri Ave., died Monday (June 10, 2002) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Cross Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James Grabitske, officiating. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery at Elma.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Esther, (Mrs. John) Gordon, age 81, a resident of 1307 Missouri Avenue, Charles City, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City. Funeral services for Esther will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Cross Lutheran Church. The Rev. James Grabitske, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery at Elma.

Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14 and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Esther Marie Michael Gordon was born March 27, 1921, at Elma, the daughter of William and Emma Stueber Michael. She graduated from the Elma High School in 1938. On June 17, 1946, she was united in marriage to John Gordon in Elma. They moved to Charles City in 1946. Esther worked as a secretary at Washington School for 23 years. She was a member of Cross Lutheran Church, and the Big 4 Retired Teachers Association. Esther enjoyed traveling to Florida, Colorado, and Europe. While touring in Europe she particularly enjoyed attending the Passion Play. Esther looked forward to spending time with her family.

Living family members include her husband, John of Charles City; a son David Gordon and wife Lori of Charles City; and a daughter, Carol Laine of Gainesville, FL; seven grandchildren; a great grandson; a brother William Michael and wife Gloria of Hillside, IL; and a sister, Elsie Thies of Sumner.

Two sisters, Alice and Rose Michael preceded her in death.
