ROCKFORD, IOWA - Kevin Reiter, age 28, of 800 13th St., West Des Moines, formerly of Rockford, died Wednesday June 5, 2002, in Des Moines from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

Funeral services were held Saturday June 8, 2002, at the First United Methodist Church, Rockford. Interment took place in the Riverside Cemetery in Rockford.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to direct memorials to the Kevin Reiter Memorial Fund.

Kevin was born May 28, 1974, the son of Merlyn and Ramona (Jackson) Reiter at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City. He graduated from the Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock school with the Class of 1992 and went on to Hawkeye Community College to study turf management. He was the golf course superintendent at Sunny Brae Golf course in Osage and then at Rockford Golf and Country Club. Kevin then became the second assistant at Elmcrest Golf and Country Club. In October of 1998 he moved to Des Moines and began working for the Des Moines Golf and Country Club as first assistant superintendent of the North Course. One of Kevin's highlights of his career was working to prepare the course for the 1999 Senior Open. Kevin loved the game of golf and enjoyed every minute working on the course. He often spoke of nature's beauty in the birds singing and the animals busy at work, especially the swans.

Kevin had many passions in his life including trout fishing, traveling (especially flying), watching sports, attending Iowa Hawkeye Football games, going to the health club and watching NASCAR. He looked forward to the time he was able to spend with his friends, favorite English Bulldog "Lucy," and his two very special nieces. Kevin's pride and joy was the 1966 Ford Mustang he refurbished.

Those thankful for having shared in Kevin's life include his parents, Merlyn and Ramona Reiter, one sister; Shelley and her husband, Michael Brunner, of Hiawatha; grandparents, Eno and Isabelle Reiter of Charles City, two nieces; Kaylyn and Hannah Brunner of Hiawatha, aunts and uncles; LeRoy and Virginia Kuhlers of Bancroft, Sheryl Jackson of Mason City, Melvin and Ann Reiter of Charles City, Jerry and Maxine Watkins of Charles City, Alvin Reiter of Marble Rock, Iowa, Marlys Reiter of Hampton, Iowa, and many cousins and extended family.

Mr. Reiter was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Helen Jackson, one Uncle Daryl Jackson, and one cousin, Melvin Reiter Jr.

The Fullerton Schumburg Funeral Home, 302 West Main St., Rockford, was in charge of the arrangements.
