Mary "Lois", Mrs. Walter Nehl, 68, a former resident of 2013 Greenfield Lane, Charles City, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at the Salsbury Baptist Home in Charles City. A funeral Mass for "Lois" Nehl will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 9, 2002, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Monsignor Stanley Hayek, pastor, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetry at Alta Vista. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 to 8 p.m., today, Wednesday, May 8, 2002, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and where a Vigil Scriptural Wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church an hour prior to the Mass.

Mary "Lois" Sullivan Nehl was born April 28, 1934, at Chester, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret (Clancy) Sullivan. She graduated from Elma High School. On Sept. 24, 1953, she was united in marriage to Walter Nehl at Waterloo. "Lois" had worked for Landmark Laundry and the Charles City Press. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Theresa Circle, and the Rosary Society.

Living family members include a daughter, Wanda Wilcoxson of Scott City, Kan.; three granddaughters, Heather Doyle, and Haley and Holly Wilcoxson; and a sister, Luella Nydegger and husband Bill of Naperville, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1997, and four brothers.
