Helen was born on February 22, 1919, near South English, in Keokuk County, Iowa. She was one of nine children born to Olan Rufus and Mary Pearl (Kirkpatrick) Dyson. She was baptized at the age of 10 in the Church of the Brethren.

She graduated from the Keswick High School and then spent one year at Iowa State Teachers College.

She taught for a few years near Rosehill, Iowa, where she met her future husband. She was united in marriage to Harold R. Jackson on May 4, 1940, at Kirksville, Mo. To this union were born three children. They lived in Oskaloosa, Iowa, Baltimore, Md.; Bellevue, Neb., What Cheer, Iowa, and moved to Nora Springs, Iowa, in 1947, and then to Rockford in 1948, where she spent the remainder of her life.

She was the bookkeeper and co-owner of Jackson Radiator Repair.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Rockford.

Helen had a talent for hand-filet crocheting, making such items as the Lord's Prayer, Crucifixion scene, and ''United We Stand.'' She also crocheted and made animals, dolls and toys. Each child, grandchild, and great grandchild received a quilt as a gift. She also made sleeping bag turtles. She enjoyed craft work and especially working with felt and sequins to make Christmas decorations.

At an early age she raised chickens and ducks and spent many happy hours with her cat "Buddy" and her Boston Terriers, Fritz and Boots.

You could always find many search wordbooks at her home. She loved baking and making her beef and noodles for those family and friends that would stop by.

Those thankful in sharing Helen's life include her two daughters, Virginia E. and her husband, LeRoy Kuhlers, of Bancroft, and Ramona K. and her husband, Merlyn Reiter, of Rockford; two sisters, Marie Atwood, of Sigourney, and Hilda and her husband, Charles Winegarden, of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Glenn and his wife, Dorothy Dyson, of Green City, Mo.; three sisters-in-law, Fern Dyson, of Sigourney, Jeri Dyson, of Manistee, Mich., and Betty Winegarden, of Sigourney; and a former daughter-in-law, Sheryl Jackson, of Mason City; six grandchildren, Andrea Jackson, Sara Webster, Kraig and Kyle Kuhlers, Shelley Brunner, and Kevin Reiter; four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Davis Kuhlers, and Kaylyn and Hannah Brunner; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
