Vivian R. (Mrs. Virgil) Quade, 81, of 400 South Main Street, Charles City, died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, 1999, at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home in Charles City. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, at Fullerton Hage. The family will be present to receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.

VIVIAN R. QUADE

CHARLES CITY - Vivian R. (Mrs. Virgil) Quade, 81, 400 South Main St., Charles City, died Tuesday (Dec. 7, 1999) at her residence, following a lengthy illness.

Funeral services for Vivian Quade will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday (Dec. 10, 1999) at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at the Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.

Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today at Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, with the family present from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Quade, the former Vivian Ruth Hoeft, was born April 28, 1918, in Charles City, the daughter of Richard and Hattie (Morcom) Hoeft. Vivian attended school in Charles City and graduated from Charles City High School in 1936.

On Jan. 20, 1940, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Charles City, she was united in marriage to Virgil Lester Quade. The couple made their home in Charles City, where Vivian thoroughly enjoyed the role of homemaker. In 1961, Vivian began a career as a sales clerk at the former Spurgeon's Department Store in Charles City. She retired in January 1983.

Vivian was a member of the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a Brownie leader while her children were young. She loved all types of sewing and crocheting.

Those thankful for sharing Vivian's life include her husband of 59 years, Virgil, of Charles City; three sons and their wives, Wesley and Lois Quade of Nora Springs, Gary and Sandie Quade of Charles City, and David and Karen Quade of Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter and her husband, Barbara and John Ashley of LaPorte, Colo.; a sister, Mrs. Velma Billings and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Hoeft, both of Charles City; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, LaVerne Hoeft; and a sister, Eulalia Peske.
