CHARLES CITY, IOWA -- Carlyle D. Gahwiller, 71, of 812 Gilbert St., Charles City, died Monday (July 31, 1995) at the Veterams Administration Hospital, Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Karen Rask Behling officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Charles City Ceremonial Unit. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., and one hour prior to services at the church.

Carlyle D. Gahwiller was born Dec. 22, 1923, at Charles City.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Gahwiller of Rapid City, S.D., and Leo Gahwiller of Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter, Linda Arndt of Charles City; one sister, Leone Hughes of Long Beach, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
