CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Leland Smith, 68, of 1825 Shadow Ave., died Saturday (Feb. 6, 1999) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital, Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Charles City, with Monsignor Stanley J. Hayek officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, Charles City. A rosary lead by St. Mary's Circle will be recited at 3 p.m. and a vigil scriptural wake service will begin at 7 p.m. followed by a rosary recited by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday at the church.

Leland Edward Smith was born May 13, 1930, at Lawler.

Living family members include his wife, Rose A. of Charles City; two sons, Jim Smith and Andrew Smith, both of Cedar Rapids; five daughters, Mary Smith of Cedar Falls, Kathy Kalsow of Shoreview, Minn., Teresa Bruns of Holland, Mich., Donna Lester of Slater, and Tricia Hartman of Decorah; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Mary Smith of Elma; and a sister, Mildred Rucker of Rock Falls, Ill.

Leland was preceded in death by his father and a daughter.
