CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Mildred M. Hughes, 76, of 603 N. Johnson St., died Wednesday (Oct. 28, 1998) at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Congregational Church, Charles City, with the Rev. Jack Ivey officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Amity Cemetery, Reinbeck.

Visitation will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Monday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St., Charles City, and from 9 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday at the church.

Mildred M. Hughes was born Nov. 8, 1921, at Birchard, Neb.

Survivors include one daughter, Merron Clark, of Clarksville; three sons, Richard, of Adel; Ted, of Sheffield; and Paul, of Charles City; three brothers, James Porter, of Cedar Falls, David Porter, of Cerritos, Calif.; and William Porter, of Hudson; two sisters, Flora Uhlenberg, of Waterloo and Illa Merriam, of Oakdale, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, and two sisters.

Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church, the Iowa Commission for the Blind, or Hospice of North Iowa, Charles City Center.
