Charles City, IowaDonald Boekemeier, age 91, of Rockford, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Thursday, November 9, 2006, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Donald William Boekemeier was born March 8, 1915, the son of William and Martha (Hubbard) Boekemeier in Floyd County. He graduated from the Floyd High School.
On September 9, 1938, he was united in marriage to Lucille Perrin at Rockford. They farmed all their lives southwest of Charles City. Don was a member of the West Saint Charles United Methodist Church where he was a church trustee, a township trustee and a member of Farm Bureau.
His interests included farming, coon hunting, wood working, playing card, spending time with his family and most of all just enjoying life.
Living family members include a son, David (Peggy) Gillespie of Amery, Wiscconsin; three grandchildren, Russell (Rhonda) Boekekeier, Marie (Doug) Frenz, and Dan Gillespie; three great grandchildren, Curtis Boekeneier, Anthony Frenz and Stephanie Frenz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Sept. 25, 2006; a son, Robert Boekemeier; two sisters, Amy Tjaden and Mabel Wamsley; and a brother Arley Boekemeier.
