D. Corrinne Smith, 93, of Charles City, died Thursday, December 25, 2008, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

Doris Corrinne Smith was born September 2, 1915, at Urbana, the daughter of Clarence and Clara (Davis) Miller. She graduated from Nashua High School in 1933 and attended Iowa State Teachers College where she received her Teaching Certificate.

In December of 1941 she was united in marriage to Edward Smith at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Corrinne taught in rural Chickasaw County schools, co managed Smith Transport Company, established Kae’s Restaurant in Nashua, and worked at Trowbridges and Red Owl. She was a member of the Methodist Church and Charles City Women’s Club. Her interests included crafting butterflies, going on rides with her sister, and visiting with family and friends. Corrinne also looked forward to sharing her life with her family and took every opportunity to do so.

Living family members include three children, Douglas “Dean” (Colet) Smith of Quakertown, Pa., Joy (Richard) Smith Martsching of Hot Springs, Ark., and Cheryle L. Smith of Charles City; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Crow, Matthew Hults, Shannon (Jeffrey) Miller, and Cole (Kari) Smith; five great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Delores (Nick) Landry of Concordia, Kans.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on December 24, 1955; two brothers, Vernon and Chester Miller; and a sister, Evelyn Rausch.
