CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Byron A. Lockrem, 75, of 109 Central Ave., died Friday, January 23, 1998, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert St., with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Salem Memorial Cemetery in Lake Mills with Military Graveside Honors conducted by the American Legion Lake Mills/Otto/Chose Post No. 235, of Lake Mills.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. In accordance with Byron’s wishes, his casket will remain closed and draped under the flag of the country he proudly served.

Byron Alvin Lockrem was born on January 28, 1922, is Sisseton, South Dakota.

Survivors include his wife, Florence, Charles City; three children, Jeffrey and his wife, Lorrie, Nevada, Bradley and his wife, Kelly, Panama City, Fla., and Roberta, Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Magnus Lockrem and his wife, Mona, San Leandro, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Arlene Van Cott, Castro Valley, Calif., Mrs. Marlys Thoe, and Norris Lovik and her husband, Marlin, all of Albert Lea, Minn.; and four grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a grandson, and a special nephew.
