FLOYD, IOWA - Phyllis I. Nauman, 80, of Floyd, Floyd ocunty, Iowa, died on Friday, December 19, 2008, at Cedar Health in Charles City.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford, Iowa. Pastor Patricia Shaw will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Rudd, Floyd county, Iowa. Friends may call at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 4 until 8 p.m. today, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Phyllis Irene DeWalle Nauman was born on September 30, 1928, at Cresco, Howard county, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Inga (Queel) DeWalle. She received her education in the Charles City school district. On Oct. 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to Lester Nauman at the Saint John Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage in Charles City.

Phyllis was a longtime employee of Sears in Mason City and a full time helpmate in her husband's farming operation. She was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rockford, TOPS in Nora Springs where she became a KOPS and the Iowa Women's Bowling Association in Mason City where she was a long-time board member and a Hall of Fame member. Phyllis was the vice president of the Wigwam Camping Group, a Farm Bureau Women's Representative, 4-H and Cub Scout leader and participated in many different choirs.

Her interests included playing Yahtzee, bowling, playing cards, gardening, wallpapering, painting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Living family members include her husband, Lester Nauman, of Floyd; four children, Debra (Claude) Nash of Rockford, Douglas (Janice) Nauman of Nashua, Derek (Eileen) Nauman of Altoona and Dennis (Carol) Nauman of Rudd; seven grandchildren, Kelley Nauman, Kyle (Terina) Nauman, Dustin Nash (fiance, Lorena Dremel), Dawn (Jamie) Hinton, Amanda Nauman (friend, Kyle Critz), Scott Nauman and Brent Nauman; two sisters, Genevieve Herron of Charles City and Celaine (Gilbert) Gerleman of Charles City; brother, Eugene (Betty) DeWalle of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marlys Patterson; and brother, Donald DeWalle.
