CHARLES CITY — John A. Haase, 89, 106 Seventh Ave., died Sunday (Jan. 18, 1998) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main and Gilbert streets, with the Rev. Dennis D. Niezwaag and the Rev. Karen Rask Behling officiating. It was John’s wish that his body be donated to the Mayo Clinic for the advancement of medical research.

Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St., Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.

John August William Haase was born Jan. 14, 1909, in rural Shawano County, Wisconsin.

Survivors include his wife, Marie, of Charles City; one daughter, Anne Exline, of Charles City; one son, John A. Haase, of Fort Collins, Colo.; one stepdaughter, Sheryl Spivak, of Washington, D.C.; one stepson, Tom Elliott, of Fargo, N.D.; three sisters, Martha, Emma, and Ella; one brother, Christ, all of Wisconsin; four grandsons; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three stepgrandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parent, his first wife and two sisters.

At John’s request, memorials may be directed to St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Charles City High School Athletic Department or a charity of the donor’s choice in John’s name.
