CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Lyle W. Stott, 86, of Charles City died on Monday, December 15, 2008, at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Fullerton-Hage Funeral Home, 401 Blunt St. in Charles City, with Chaplain Barb Tieszen officiating. Lyle will be cremated following the service.

Lyle was born on May 22, 1922, in Titonka, Iowa, the son of Guy and Emma (Wirtjes) Stott. He graduated from Garner High School in 1940. He served in the Army during World War II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. Lyle began working for Northwestern Bell Telephone in 1947 as a technician and trouble-shooter.

He moved to Osage, Iowa in 1957 where he met Edna Lincke, and the couple was united in marriage on April 11, 1959. The couple lived in Keokuk briefly before settling in Charles City in 1960. He retired from the telephone company in 1984 after 37 years of service. Lyle spent his retirement years dealing in antiques, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and spending time with his family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Edna; daughters, Tracy (Orville) Hillis of Charles City and Patrice (Rod) Cagley of Ankeny; grandchildren, Audrey McHenry, Nycole Armon, Zack Cagley and Darby Cagley; great-grandchildren, Imigin and Xander McHenry; brother, Lloyd (Doris) Stott of Camarillo, Calif., and a sister, Leona Straw of Clear Lake, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louie Stott; and sisters, Lois Accurso, Lorna Brcka, Bonnie Steege and LaVon Stott.
