CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Johanna H. Heddens, age 87, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died on Monday, December 15, 2008, at the Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City.

Funeral services for Johanna Heddens will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2008, at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main in Charles City. Pastor Gary Van Wert of the Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Charles City.

Johanna Hoekstra Heddens was born June 23, 1921, Osceola County, the daughter of Henry and Johanna (Bakker) Hoekstra. She received her education at the Osceola Country School.

On June 5, 1954, she was united in marriage to Jonce Heddens at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Moose Lodge. Her interests included arts and crafts, reading and cooking and ear piercing.

Living family members include her four nephews, Gary (Crista) Mackin of Glendale, Arizona, Dennis (Debbie) Mackin of Willcox, Arizona, Shawn (Irene) Mackin of Phoenix, Arizona, and Kevin Mackin of Phoenix, Arizona; seven grandnieces and nephews; and three great-grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Margaret Mackin; and her infant brother, Jobie Hoekstra.
