Charles City, IowaMartha Hosek, 92, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Monday, June 2, 2008, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
The Reverend Carl Ries will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City.
Martha Havel Hosek was born March 3, 1916, in Howard County, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Zak) Havel.
On September 24, 1934, she was united in marriage to William J. Hosek at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Protivin. Along with helping her husband on the farm, the two of them owned and operated Malek and Hosek General Store in Schley.
After moving to Charles City Martha was employed at Salsbury Laboratories and the Up Town Café. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and St. Rose Circle. Her interests included crocheting, flowers, gardening and fishing.
Living family members include one sister, Anna Samec of Cresco; sister-in-law, Rose Bouska of Cresco; and several nieces; nephews; close friends; and neighbors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill on August 7, 2007; three brothers, Lewis Havel, Frank Havel Jr. and Marceline Havel; and eight sisters, Frances Frana, Rose Triska, Mary Frana, Celia Vokaty, Agnes Milota, Lillian Pecinovsky, Emma Moravetz, and Marcella Opat.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Knights of Columbus, 502 Clark St. Charles City, Iowa or to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 106 Chapel Ln Charles City, Iowa.
