Joseph Snyder, 78, of Charles City, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at his residence.

Joseph Richard Snyder was born May 8, 1929, at Janesville, Minn., the son of Leonard and Ellen “Nellie” Eustice. He graduated from the Immaculate Conception Academy in Charles City and attended Iowa State Teachers College, currently UNI. Joseph proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

On June 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to Marian Behling at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. Joseph worked for over 45 years at the Oliver/White Farm Equipment Company. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and past member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks.

Joe enjoyed playing cards and pool and will also be remembered as an avid sportsman who hunted, bowled and golfed. He was proud of the fact that he had gotten a “hole in one”. Joe took much pride in his family including his six daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Living family members include his wife, Marian of Charles City; five daughters, Julie (Charles) Buckel of Ellsworth, Wis., Nancy (Joseph) Coppola of LaCrosse, Wis., Suze (Paul) Pooler of Bemidji, Minn., Marcia (Scott) Thomas of Osage and Sally (Bill) Wolfe of Charles City; 27 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a sister, Irene (Paul) Field of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amy Brunner; three sisters, Pat Apel, Bonnie Banks and Ann Aldridge; and a brother, Paul Snyder.
