Annette Lois Carroll Krumrey Smith was born September 21, 1919 at Muskegon, Michigan, the daughter of Zell and Mae (Hinkle) Carroll. At the age of nine her family moved to Charles City where she also attended the Charles City High School.

On June 8, 1937, she was united in marriage to Lawrence Krumrey. They farmed until his death on December 12, 1971.

Annette married Willis Smith on July 11, 1975. Willis died on December 1, 2003. Annette worked for several years with the Hot Lunch Program at the Charles City schools. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and Double Dozen Club. Her pastimes included sewing, crocheting, and playing solitaire.

Annette’s family was very special to her and she looked forward to spending time with them. The grandchildren will always remember how good a ball player grandma was and how hard she could hit the ball.

Living family members include a son, Robert (Kathy) Krumrey of Charles City; a daughter, Linda (Merlin) Litterer of Greene; a son-in-law, Harley Lovik of Sherill; four step daughters, Nancy (Don) Rosonke of Floyd, Barbara (Ron) Rice of Mason City, Janet (Bill) Vokes of Floyd, and April (Jeff) Rusch of Colorado; a step son, Millard (Patty) Smith of Colorado; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a brother, Ron Norton of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a daughter, Barbara Lovik, two sisters, Maxine Gifford and Betty Fisher; and a brother, Corneilus Carroll.
