CHARLES CITY — Grace Simon, 90, of Charles City, died Friday (Jan. 21, 2005) at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Elma.

Funeral services for Grace Simon will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City. Pastor Ruth Yeaton of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Elma. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday until time of service at the funeral home.

Grace Elizabeth Hendry was born July 6, 1914, at Osage, Mitchell county, Iowa, the daughter of James and Laura (Marson) Hendry. She received her education at the Osage Community School.

On August 10, 1933, she was united in marriage to Roy Simon at Elma, Howard county, Iowa. After Roy’s death in 1963, she moved to Mason City where she worked at Mercy Hospital and JC Penney. In 1976 she moved to Charles City. Grace was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Her hobbies included various types of needlework and making bread. Grace’s family was always special to her and she looked forward to spending time with them.

Living family members include a son, William Simon of Speer, Illinois; two daughters, Ruby (Henry) Galing of Alta Vista, Iowa, and Carolyn (Marvin) Zobel, Jr. of Waterloo, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a grandson, Willard Galing; a brother; and two sisters.
