CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Carol Springer, 88, of Charles City died Tuesday (May 17, 2005) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Carol Springer, 88, of Charles City, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

Carol Marie Zimmer Springer was born December 24, 1916, in Floyd County, the daughter of Ernest and Ruth (Hoger) Zimmer. She received her education from Floyd County rural schools and the Charles City High School.

On April 29, 1935, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Vincent Springer at Charles City. Carol worked for 24 years in the production department of Salsbury Laboratories. She was a devout member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Saint Mary’s Rosary Society. Carol enjoyed playing cards, especially with her daughter, fishing and collecting knick-knacks.

Among other things Carol will be remembered as a fast driver. Her family was always very important to her and she always looked forward to spending time with them.

Living family members include two sons, Ronald (Donna) Springer of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Robert (Cindy) Springer of Charles City; a daughter, LaVonne (Marvin) Plagge of Clarion, Iowa; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Wayne (Viola) Zimmer of Charles City and Bernard (Madgit) Zimmer of Texarkana, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband on November 10, 1993; a son, Larry Springer; a grandson, Steve Allen; a son-in-law, Lloyd Allen; and a brother, Don Zimmer.

CHARLES CITY, IOWA — Carol Springer, 88, of Charles City died Tuesday (May 17, 2005) at Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.

A funeral Mass for Carol Springer will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Monsignor Stanley Hayek celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City, where the Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil Scriptural wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church.
