Charles City, IowaDarrell Vokes, age 77, of Charles City, Floyd county, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005, at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Funeral services for Darrell Vokes will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Wesleyan Church. Pastor Ted Clark will officiate. Burial will be in West Side Cemetery, Marble Rock.
Darrell Duane Vokes was born December 5, 1927, in Rockford, Iowa, the son of Earl and Mabel Celix Vokes. He was raised and educated in Rockford. Following his schooling he served his country in the United States Navy. He worked for Waterloo Casting for many years before moving to Charles City.
Darrell was united in marriage to Rebecca Hirsch on December 11, 1993, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He was employed with All State Quality Foods in Charles City. His hobbies included fishing, watching Westerns on TV, and especially playing “500” with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Vokes, Charles City; one brother, Delbert “Dean” Vokes and wife Maggie of Floyd; several nieces and nephews; one stepdaughter, Jessica Sullivan, Nashua; and one stepson, Paul David Henkle, Seattle, Washington.
