Charles City, IowaVera E. Vickerman, 95, of Charles City, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Cedar Health in Charles City.
Vera Elsie Braend was born December 15, 1911, in Floyd County, the daughter of Walter and Elsie (Wobith) Braend. She graduated from the Charles City High School. On June 2, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert Vickerman at Kahoka, Mo. They resided in Charles City all of their lives.
Vera worked at F.W. Woolworth from 1932-1935, J.C. Penney from 1935-1946, the City of Charles City from 1946-1947 and at the South Side Super Market from 1968-1977. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary where she had served as treasurer and had been very active in PTA work. She enjoyed embroidery and crocheting.
Living family members include a son, Keith (Jackie) Vickerman of Charles City; a daughter, Sharon Vickerman of Charles City; two grandchildren, Jennifer Vickerman and Andrew Vickerman and his fiencee Jodee Patterson; two great granddaughters, Savanah Wadey and Kirah Vickerman; and a niece, Joan (Dr. Gregory) Olson of Ft. Dodge.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert on August 8, 1968; and a sister, Ruth Braend.
