Arlo James Young was born October 1, 1917, at Clarksville, the son of James and Zelpha (Green) Young. He received his education at Clarksville. Arlo served in the United States Army from 1941 to 1945.

On April 21, 1942, he was united in marriage to Mary Anita Johnson at Fort Ord, California. Arlo worked for 34 years at Oliver/White Farm Corporation retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, American Legion, Moose Lodge, Senior Citizens, UAW Local 1315, and Heritage Club. His interests included playing bingo, shooting pool and maintaining and driving his cars. Arlo also enjoyed socializing in the community.

Living family members include a daughter, Linda (Duane) Hansen of Charles City, four grandchildren, Jim Hansen, Teresa Hansen VanHauen, Robbie Young, and Chris Young; five great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Young; and a special friend, Helen Wright of Charles City.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife on December 17, 1977, a son, Robert Young, a grandson, Gary Hansen, and a sister Arva Jacobs.
