Marian Ellen Steffen Wynistorf was born January 11, 1921, at Riceville, the daughter of Jacob and Mary (Fritz) Steffen. She attended rural school graduated from Riceville High School in 1938. Upon graduation from Hamilton Business College, she worked in Mason City and Waterloo. From 1942 to 1948 she worked in Chicago.

On June 7, 1947, she was united in marriage to Edward Wynistorf at the Holy Name Cathedral, Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Charles City where Marian worked as a secretary at Salsbury Laboratories for 32 years, retiring in February 1991. Marian was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Anthony’s Circle, Rosary Society, Ministry and Praise, Floyd County Historical Society and Senior Citizens. She was a past RSVP Volunteer for 5 years.

Survivors include a brother, James (Delores) Steffen of Riceville; and a sister, Irene (Harold) Adams of Osage; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Steffen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, in 1993, and a brother, Leonard Steffen.
