Charles City, IowaClarice Goddard, 92, of Charles City, died Tuesday, June 6, 2006, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.
Clarice Maxine Picken Goddard was born October 30, 1913, in Floyd County, the daughter of William and Carrie (Waid) Picken. She graduated from the Floyd Consolidated School and attended Iowa State Teachers College. Clarice taught rural schools in Floyd and Rudd townships from 1933 to 1937.
On July 1, 1937, she was united in marriage to Leonard Goddard at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. From 1959 to 1976 she worked as a receptionist at the Breitbach Chiropractic Clinic. Clarice was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and was involved with the United Methodist Women. Other memberships included the Pythian Sisters, Woman’s Club and Senior Citizens of Charles City. Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting, reading and flowers.
Living family members include a daughter, Rosalie (Greg) Pieper of Charles City; two grandchildren, David Jacobs and Lisa Jacobs; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald (Marcella) Picken of Mason City and Robert Picken of Floyd; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1996; a brother, Kenneth Picken; and a sister, Inez Blunt.
