Helen Mary Zacharda Wright was born November 9, 1916, at St. Ansgar, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Rench) Zacharda. In 1935 she graduated from St. Ansgar High School.

On January 8, 1937, she was united in marriage to John Wright at Osage. They later divorced. Helen worked as a waitress at the Comet Bowl, the Boulevard, the Maid-Rite and the Mini Mart, retiring in the late 1970’s.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Senior Citizens Center, White Farm Pensioners and a 50 year member of the Western Fraternal Lodge in Mason City. Helen’s interests included flower gardening, playing bingo, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Holiday celebrations were always very important to Helen and she looked forward to them with great anticipation.

Living family members include two children, Jane (Jim) Frisbie of Charles City and John (Mary) Wright of Marion; four grandchildren, Vincent Boge of Charles City, Jason Boge of Rochester, Minnesota, Jocelyn Wright of Marion and Benjamin Wright of Coralville; four great grandchildren, Megan and Mitchel Boge and Brennon and Brielle Wright; a brother, Eddie Zacharda of St. Ansgar; a sister, Rosie Anderson of Austin, Minnesota; and two sisters-in-law, Leona Zacharda of St. Ansgar and Agnes Zacharda of California.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Marie Zacharda; three brothers, Frank, Rudy and George Zacharda; and special friend, Arlo Young.

CHARLES CITY — Helen Wright, 88, of Charles City, died Saturday (Sept. 3, 2005) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hauser Funeral Home, 1205 S. Main St. in Charles City. Pastor Gayle Wilcox of the Trinity United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauser Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Wednesday at the funeral home an hour prior to the service.
